Reached 300k in investments!!

Pre tax = 205k (401k's, 403b's, IRA's)
After tax = 97k (Savings, Roth IRA's)

Not including home equity or rental property equity.  Very excited to exceed 300k threshold, hoping to hit the 1 mil marker in 10 years continuing maxing out of 401k/403b and adding to after tax accounts as well.  2 little ones in the household and will be crucial to keep wife in downsize mode (she's already started looking at 400k homes with more sq ft than we need for our family of 4)

Thanks for the moral support, looking forward to finding ways to increase savings rate when possible.  As for the wife, she's planning on working forever so not in the mindset of making sacrifices...deadset on having a larger home for hosting/etc.  I'll let you know if I find a good way to get her on the MMM train.

Can you find a compromise on the house?  Larger than you have now but smaller than the $400k houses?

I can attest to the house thing and keeping your wife in downsize mode. As someone who just bought a 320k house, lifestyle creep is real! I work at home so having a nice house is more important than some. I am pretty good when it comes to managing money and saving, but the house thing got me, just wanted that house with the front porch, space and decent finishes. I am a sucker! But congrats on the 300k!
