So I had a training at work this week with various people in my field from around the state. At lunch, I was just biting into my sandwich when one of them said, "Hey, you know how you told me about Mint? Well, that's how my husband was able to quit his job and stay home with our kid." I looked at her, totally surprised! I knew her husband quit his job earlier this year to stay home with their young son (via Facebook), but I had no idea that I helped influence that scenario in any way.
Turns out she had fairly recently gotten an iPhone when I saw her last time in person, and she was asking for app tips, and I mentioned how I'm kind of obsessive about money and how I like to use Mint every day to see what's going on. So she and her husband started using it, seeing everything laid out, and realized how much money was being used for things related to both of them working while having a young child (and another on the way--very happy for them, they seem like awesome parents)--things like gas, daycare, meals out because both were too stressed and had no time to cook, etc. So now her husband is able to stay home with their soon-to-be two little boys, and their oldest is thriving and loving it (what little boy wouldn't love staying home to play with dad all day?). All because I jabber on and on about finances. :)
