Prepaid cellular switch success! (for Canadians!)
« on: May 08, 2015, 12:33:22 PM »
Was on a 35 dollar a month plan (formerly 45) with service I didn't really need, but couldn't get cheaper plans til I paid off my phone. Brother helped with some Mustachian maths and we realized that the necessary difference in monthly rate for having the "privilege"  of not owning the phone outright was equivalent to having an approximately 80% interest loan. Okay! That was clear. Bought it and switched to prepaid and feeling slightly less like a sucka and a little more free....

In Canada, with Koodo mobile.
15$ base monthly plan unltd text and mms
500 minutes for $25 and
1gb for $30
And neither expire (not til 2065 anyways, according my online account).

Based on this month's usage I should be able to make the minutes last 5 months (Wi-Fi calling when possible) and the data last at least 2 years. Making for a less than $25 phone bill with taxes, with a major provider whose service has been great for over 5 years.
