Greetings All,
I have a few things to share: First, last week I did a podcast with Dan Otter and Scott Dauenhauer at
http://teachandretirerich.com/podcasts/index.html. It was a good time, and I got a lot of my points out coherently...I think.
Second, we started 2016 by front-loading our health savings account with $5,062 and our educational savings account with $2,000. Last week I set up our 457 and 403b accounts for 2016. From January to August my wife and I will send $24,000 each to our 457 accounts, and we'll send $27,696 to our 403b accounts. In 2016 we plan on savings over $83,000 while working only five months (Jan. to May). It looks like our combined net pay will be 26 cents a month: my wife's check will be 7 cents and get a fat-cat payday of 19 cents!
Finally, we sold our home last November and it is finally start to dawn on us that we are FREE. I did not realize how heavily our modest mortgage was weighing on my psyche. I still find myself worrying about our former home...however, slowly but surely I am letting it go.
Next up, we plan on using our 2 million MURP$ (Miles, Ultimate Rewards, hotel Points, and $ -cash equivalents) to travel to Latin America. We'll finish our the current academic year, and then we'll call it quits. Stay tuned...
