Please don't laugh...
« on: February 02, 2017, 07:15:13 PM »
...but the first two days of February my wife and I have spent $0.00. I can guarantee that's a first in 30+ years of marriage.

Where I work I'm allowed to order anything on the menu for a shift meal. I've occasionally been shy about taking full advantage of it, but intend to maximize that benefit going forward.  Also, I've become friends with the Chef and he helps me out occasionally. For instance tonight he gave me a pizza dough and sauce which I took home and baked on my pizza stone with cheese I already had (if you live near a Maine Source store you can get THE best pizza cheese for under $3/lb).

Here's the result:

So why spend money on carry out food when I can do that for (almost) free?

No laughing here.  I just want to know when your next shift is, so I can come for dinner afterwards :)

Your pizza looks awesome!

(But be careful - if the Chef is not the owner, then taking food off the premises, even with the permission of someone who is nominally in charge, could be a firing offense.  If I was you, I'd make sure that the owner or at least manager is ok with it, otherwise, just fill up during your breaks!)

Why laugh? that's awesome! I know a guy that travels a lot and he always is staying in hotels . To save money he will walk across the street to another hotel that serves free breakfast since they never have signs that don't say anything. Also the longer term hotels usually have lunch and dinners so he can go pretty much all week eating for free.
