Passing On Good Habits Via Modeling
« on: December 09, 2020, 04:15:15 AM »
My wife and I are very close to her older brother's kids. One niece now age 18 and a freshman in college has been asking us for years how I retired so young (my wife is FireCoast and joining me next year). After graduation from high school, this niece asked about investing her high school savings. Yesterday, she opened a Schwab brokerage account and transferred into it the money she doesn't think she'll need over the next few years. When the money clears, we'll help her invest it. This feels almost as good as when I went FIRE myself!

That's amazing! She's so lucky to have a financial mentor at such a young age. Even if she goes a different path than you chose she'll never regret starting her savings at such a young age. It'll give her such freedom.
