I was... a bit discouraged at this time last year.
The hours at my job got cut (80% salary), the house-building went over the contingency budget (20k of additional drainage, fuck), and we had 23K on our line of credit. Debt, for the first time in my life. Insert hyperventilation here.
Add to that: we had 1 year to finish some house stuff that the contractor was estimating at almost 20K so that the town would close the building permit and do the inspection. A huge deck, to start with. Finishing the kitchen and bathroom vanity, etc.
13 months, you guys. We paid of 23K of debt AND did all the house stuff (cost about 4K of materials and a lot of labour) in 13 months, on a reduced salary.
I dunno about you, but I'm pretty pleased with us. :)
