Online store coupon codes: retailmenot.com, etc.
« on: April 04, 2012, 06:18:36 PM »
This is a pretty simple one. Whenever I'm about to buy something online, I search Google for "<store name> coupon" which usually brings up, among other things worth investigating, the store's page on retailmenot.com. Often there is at least a coupon code or two listed that will give me 5-10% off my order, 15-20% if I'm lucky. Free money, and I don't have to be subscribed to their email newsletter to get it!

(speaking of which, some stores will give you a one-time discount for signing up for their newsletter. I often do this to get the discount, then unsubscribe a few days later)

Me too.

The cool thing is that it's hard to forget because most sites have the promo box when you check out to remind you to look for it!

Absolutely agree... RetailMeNot saved me a buttload on car parts last fall. I was able to buy a majority of the parts through Advance Auto Parts online, and between the stackable coupon codes and promo codes provided for next orders and dividing the purchases into smaller orders, I saved about 40% off across the board on about $350 worth of stuff.

I like Ebates. They give you the coupon codes to use and when you link to the shopping site through their site they give you a percentage back on your purchase. The percentage varies by store and they change those often. I recently bought a mattress from Sears this way, used a coupon code and got cash back from Ebates as well. Along with my reward credit card, I was able to knock off another 20% off the sale price. ;)

Well no doubt you can always find some good deals there but for Sears I have selected http://www.ezcouponsearch.com/Sears-Coupons_cm_2183.aspx because I always find some great deals there.

slickdeals.net is a favorite of mine, it is more about awesome deals than coupons, but they do have coupons too.  Also, fatwallet.com is pretty cool too.

CamelCamelCamel is not a coupon site, but a price watching/alerting system.

Find a product that you want to buy on amazon, newegg, or a couple other participating stores - and CCC will alert you via email or txt when the price has dropped below your desired price.

Also has price history charts for items - so if something is on sale, you can check to see if its really a good deal or not, because that particular item might always be on sale.

One tip to add. Always abandon your cart. Many companies will try to lure you back by emailing you a discount code.

For in real life stores, you can look at the app snipsnap. basically it's a cloud coupon storage. You know the coupons you get every single week for Michaels/ Joann/ whatever? they have them on there. Which is useful if like me you consistently forget to bring the pieces of paper to the store.
