Title: Not getting on the plane paid for the whole trip
Post by: CU Tiger on January 04, 2016, 02:28:20 PM
I was flying over the holidays, and on the way back, they asked for volunteers to be put on later flights. When I heard that they were offering $600 gift cards, I volunteered. Turns out that in the end, I got $800 for getting home 5 hours later than I originally planned.

I would not have done this for only airline miles/a flight at a later time as I have found out that I usually don't get to use those. But they were offering $800 gift cards. I got to choose from Target, BestBuy, Amazon, and 13 other gift cards.

Bazinga!! That reimbursed me for my whole flight, all the meals I ate on the trip, and left me with some profit!

That's awesome! I've never had the opportunity, or if I have it was for such a small amount (and huge delay) that it wasn't worth considering (or remembering, hahah).

I was soooo tempted while flying home on New Year's Day. They needed just one volunteer and only offered $100 or $200. I joked to my family that I would see them a day later lol. And no, I didn't jump on it. If it had been as sweet as your offer, I might have.

Cool!  What airline?

It was was Delta. They really needed to get six people off the flight and upped the price!
