Last spring I discovered MMM and started to think about how to be more responsible with the investing side of money (instead of just the not spending side). For instance, I had no idea that I could add more to my 403b than my University already took out for me! I didn't even know it was called a 403b. In checking balances this end of month, I discovered that my retirement accounts have fully doubled in the last year (from 65K to 134K)! I am so thankful for all the advice given here to get me going! (I hear much of that growth is just cause the market did well, but I'm still excited, because the increase is as much as a year's salary!)
Things I did (thanks to your advice, and that of the investment order thread!):
added more money to my employer 403b than just the 7.5% match and continue to have additional taken out each paycheck to get to max
opened and fully funded 2020 and 2021 Roth IRA
opened and started funding 529 for my youngest (already have for older two)
got my 15yo started with their own Roth IRA
oh, and I closed on a house yesterday under asking price (which is unheard of right now in my market) with a negotiated brand new sewer line.
So, I guess this is more of a gratitude post than a share your badassity post, but thank you all!
