As I've mentioned in a few other threads, hubby has been desperately seeking a job closer to home. Two years ago, when he was demobilized from active duty in the Marine Corps and returned to the reserves, he found that getting a job was much more difficult than he'd anticipated. After five months of unemployment, he landed a temporary contract job in Georgia (we live in Southern California), and moved there alone to take it. A little more than a year later, before that contract even ended, he managed to find a job back on the west coast...but 120 miles from home, on a remote Marine Corps base out in the middle of the desert. He's been doing that commute since last October. 240 miles a day.
But today, he was offered a fantastic job, in exactly the niche he's been hoping to get into, for $5,000/year more than he's making now, that's near home! It's really a $10,000 raise because of how much fuel he'll be saving. And the best part? He made some really good friends during his year in Georgia...guess where the new company is sending him for two weeks of training!
