New door? Not so much.
« on: October 30, 2014, 11:26:01 PM »
rWe were convinced we needed a new front door. Priced out a new door and found that the one we want (made within 100 miles of our hosue) is only available wholesale so we had to work through a contractor. The first one we called was great and said to hire a handyman or carpenter instead of him to keep costs down. Found a handyman via word-of-mouth recommendation. He came today to measure but looked over the door and said we don't need a new door at all. He found the real problem for the extreme air leaks we've had in the winter and can fix it in about an hour. I'm going to let him do the work and I'll watch closely the whole time to learn all I can. So excited that we can keep most of the budgeted amount in savings.
