My first 100K!
« on: January 11, 2017, 04:21:20 PM »
I know this is small potatoes to some in the MMM forum, but I just crossed the 100K mark in my Vanguard accounts! This comes a few months after finishing off my 85K in student loans. I found this website about 3 years ago, and it really helped me to get centered and establish my financial priorities. FIRE, here I come!

Congratulations the higher you go the more amazed you will start being by market returns and just how big they get.

Since passing 100k there have been months where market returns added more to my stache than I contributed that month.

Congratulations. We hit our 100k networth in July 2014, and we crossed 200k in November 2016.
I paid off my mortgage! You can read the details here -

Wow just 3 years and now you have 100K!!!

Imagine if you took even double that long next time for your next 100K in whatever form.

Consider yourself on a roll ....

That is a great number that I hope to reach some day.  I am paying off student loans (refinanced to SoFi using MMM's $300 referral), but I have over 60k at vanguard and nearly 20k in my company 401k.  I should hit the 100k asset marker before I hit that value as net worth, but both will be great milestones.

Thanks again for sharing that exciting milestone!

Compounding will make the numbers fly upwards! This is super exciting.

When did you first contribute to Vanguard? I will be starting to contribute to a 401K for the first time and have 50K in student loans that i plan to refinance with SoFi. At what point in my journey should I look into Vanguard?
