My 17 year old DD has been working at a local pho/poke/asian bowl counter service place for the last 18 months. They have three restaurants so designate acting managers for each place for those times when a family member is not there. The acting manager at her place left so she set a time to talk with the owner and then told him she was ready for more responsibility as she already did most of the training of new employees. They made her acting manager with a substantial raise. I'm such a proud mom, no way would anyone have put me in charge of anything at 17 never mind would I even have had the nerve to ask.

Congrats! Now is also an ideal time to teach about lifestyle creep. See if she’s willing to put all or a portion of the difference in pay into savings or investments. :-)

That's awesome - kudos to your daughter for being such a go-getter!
I also completely misread/misunderstood the title as I was expecting the post to be about a child being awesome for driving his/her parents around while they enjoyed some adult beverages!

This is great! Give her a high-five for me.
Also, please tell us your parenting tricks.

There's still time to have this happen. @Unique User, you should definitely have your daughter DD at some point. It teaches them a life lesson: parents are people, too.

Now you need to open a custodial IRA so she/you can start setting aside money for her retirement.
