Our House Badassity
« on: January 27, 2013, 05:16:36 PM »
I just came across this site and am excited to find like minded individuals who appreciate our "craziness" or as this site says "badassity". We recently downsized from our 1605 sf house (we owned) to a 700 S.F mother in law suite. We cut our expenses from $1655 a month (mortgage plus utilities) to $600 a month. We also make $296 a month off the house so we really are paying $304 a month for housing. Since my husband is deploying this move put us much closer to my work reducing my commute.

Wow, talk about a big move in a lot of areas.  I can only imagine it will increase your peace of mind a bit, and during a time when peace of mind is hard to come by.  Thanks for sharing, and welcome!

Impressive!  I can't wait until I can write a post like that about housing.  And good luck to you and your husband.  Thank you both for your sacrifices.

That's great! It's always so nice to discover you don't need as much as you thought you did and then get a financial benefit for the realization. WTG!

Cutting housing expense by 80% is super bad ass.  Hats off.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
