So I got tired of working saving and only going home so I decided to drag a friend to a concert who is also economizing. I did budget $40 for us to eat out at a local taco chain but that was all. I picked up one of our local free papers and discovered the Kennedy Center gives free concerts year round with all types of music and bits of comedy. Car-centric friend agrees to use Metro thus saving finding a parking spot and possibly paying for it $20 not spent. :-)
Kennedy Center has a free shuttle from the subway station. I did splurge on a beaded top from a "good" Salvation Army though $7. We saw an Armenian oud player plus 3 girls who mostly sang acapella. I didn't understand a word of it but enjoyed being out and about and they had great harmony so it was a pleasure. Did I mention being a Nielsen member I got points for eating out which can be converted to merchandise and we intend on seeing 2 more free concerts this year?
Not putting out for full concert tickets or concert swag, not bugging out over parking or lack of, not putting out for a full service restaurant, priceless!!
SCORE!!
