So I gave blood today, and while that is badass in and of itself it's not really worthy of a forum post. That all changes when I get the free t-shirt, check out what I see on the front of it....

Good God,that is too much! I just love it!
And kudos to you for giving blood.

My company allows us to give blood on company time, so I do it as often as possible. Yet I've never gotten a t-shirt that cool. :)

Wow. Where did you donate blood? For what organization?

I donated in downtown Richmond Virginia, the service provider for our area is Virginia Blood Services. I think they work in NOVA as well. They have a drive every three months or so sponsored by Suntrust Bank, which is next door to the building I work in. Suntrust also gives away gift cards in drawings, and I've won three in the past few years. It's total win-win. Did I mention the snacks? ;-)
I like giving blood, it's something you can't put a dollar value on. People need it and it takes donors to step up. My sticker says I've donated 28 times with them now, so that is in fact feels a little badass. But not compared to the folks donating platelets and the like, I'm just a generic donor who goes in when the drive comes our way..

So what you're saying is that for the cost of blood, you can get yourself an entire free wardrobe. Only about 30 more trips to go, right?

Yes, I have quite the collection of (usually) crappy blood drive t-shirts, truth be told. You have to have something to paint in that you don't care if it gets messed up! Even then I can't use them all and at least half find their way to Goodwill.
But this bad boy is a keeper.

My favorite t-shirt that I got was "Starve a vampire - give blood today!" Given in Oct of course.
This year I could have gotten a case of water and a t-shirt, but didn't do either.
