Switching cable companies: $130/mo, $780 for the year
Did landscaping ourselves: $1200
Cancelled wine club: $100
Budgeting work lunches: $300
Cut back on house cleaners: $1280

Total: $3660

That brings my grand total for the year to $8205 **exploding fist bump**

This past March I cancelled my gym membership, saving $68 a month, for a total of $612 savings for the rest of the year.

I also quit my $35 Virgin Mobile phone plan for a tracfone around the same time... for about $24 savings each month or $216 for the rest of the year.

My wife changed her student loans to Income Based Repayment (IBR) and is attempting to qualify for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness which will forgive her debt after 10 years of payments as a full-time employment or after 25 years of IBR.  This will save her (us) roughly $1000 / month (though technically paying more over the term of the loan if the PSLR does not work out.

Also - I made some general categories for the savings in the spreadsheet to help other Mustachians identify where the areas of biggest potential savings might be in their day to day lives.  Let me know if these are helpful !

Almost halfway there through the course of the year!  Need to pick up the pace slightly.

I'm looking at:
Killed spotify membership ($10 a month = $60)
Swtiched cable box ($8 a month = $96)

I couldn't seem to save the spreadsheet though when I tried to add it.    I know it isn't much, but it is a start.

Over the next few weeks I will be:
Switching to a VOIP Phone system and killing my bundle package.  This will ultimately save $200-$300 for the remainder of the year.

Yeah!  I get to add another.  Switched Trash Disposal companies (we're on private vendors, not city operated).  Went from $632 per year to $260, for a savings of $372.  AND the new company is locally owned and operated, which I am happy to support.  Updated spreadsheet.

Cancelled home security system in July - $100
Dropped full coverage on car - $85
Increased deductible on motorcycle - $30
Dropped ring insurance - $100
Did not aerate or thatch lawn this year - $400
Got company to pay for portion of our internet - $600
Dropped down to 1 gig on data plan - $40
Adopted MMM's oatmeal in the cereal idea - $60

For a grand total (off the top of my head) of $1415!

We paid off the most expensive of our mortgages ( 85k GBP @ 3.89%) with an inheritance. I guess I can only put in the interest saved for the rest of the year, or can I put in the int saved over the remaining term of 23 years? I'm not even sure how I work that out - shame on me.

In slightly less news, I cancelled a face-punch worthy snack box service called Graze at £3.89 every fortnight. I enjoyed it, but it totally wasn't worth the money just to get surprise food in the post. I also added my DH's savings on cancelling the gym and Spotify (we pay the same in GBP as you do in USD - the cheek) as he's not a forum user - although like me, is trying to grow out his 'stache.

I have put out savings on the sheet, but will revise if someone thinks I can put the whole of the mortgage interest on there.

Am also considering cancelling my charity contributions of £20 per month, but feel like I should address more wasteful parts of my/our spending (food) before I do that.

I think if you added up every saving in every post this year we'd be well over $5million. Sadly I think it's impossible now to trawl through them all to find out for sure :)

hi.  We got rid of our second car early in the year when the registration was due. A saving from the insurance too brought the saving to about $800. I also shopped around for  better health insurance plan and increased the excess, giving another saving of $1000 pa.
