Monthly networth increase so far for 2014
« on: August 29, 2014, 06:41:27 PM »
I guess this is the right place to share our badassity? Wife and me, ages 32 and 30 respectively. We've been trying to be better mustachcians since we discovered MMM last year and wanted to use 2014 as a test case. After 8 months, here is our NW data pulled straight from our Mint:

Date                  Net
 Jan-14   $152,412.52
 Feb-14   $170,957.91
 Mar-14   $181,987.14
 Apr-14   $189,378.89
 May-14   $199,149.77
 Jun-14   $211,576.73
 Jul-14   $218,084.62
 Aug-14   $229,145.20

The markets certainly help but it's amazing to see the 'stache grow. This stuff is legit! I'm forecasting a little more than a $100k NW increase for 2014, which blows my mind.

We do need to work on some things. We're saving on average 35% of our take-home pay on top of maxing our 401K plans in a high COL area. Some months are better than others. Trying to maintain at least a 40% savings rate. Hope to have that by year end and go into 2015 'staching even more cash.

Thanks to all for the daily inspiration around here.

That's awesome. Congratulations.
Out of curiosity, do you have any numbers for your networth increase before you "became mustachian", it'd be interesting to see the differences

Terrific!  You are really shoveling in the dough!  It's nice to see those numbers climb, isn't it?

Excellent progress.  It will only increase faster as you increase your savings rate!

Amazing!  It is so sweet to see your hard work pay off. I think you will easily hit the $100K NW increase this year, and likely surpass it.  Now that you've had this great success, you will want more!

Congratulations.

Thanks all!

We're watching spending like a hawk this month so hope to get that savings rate at least above 40%.

This is amazing! Wondering what the dollar amount is you're contributing a month? I've got a similar amount but my networth only grows by a couple thousand a month. Wondering if I'm doing something majorly wrong!

We started to save aggressively after we finished paying off our mortgage in 2012.
Our house is worth approx. $500k but I have left it out of our net worth figures.
I generally only review our increases quarterly, so here is the growth on our investments:

Jan - 13 -$314,917
Jan - 14 - $448,196
Apr - 14 - $496,476
Jul  - 14 - $539,732
Aug - 14 - $550,794

that's excellent progess.

I have net worth figures back to 2000. its amazing how it accelerates.

2000 - ($65,000)
2011 - 200,000
Long story but I started tackling finance issue as I felt I was under too much pressure from debt at that stage
2013 - 357,000
current - 402,000

I've only just started with some of the idea of this site. I was looking at about 60k a year increase in net worth based on my current budget. with the new one I could be looking at 0 debt in a few months and a target of 100k per annun. which means potential FI in just over 2 years - about 5 years ahead of schedule.

I'd always put into a 401k but clearly wasn't aggressive enough. my plan was to retire when the 4% figure hit 100K but by sorting our budget out and looking realistically that can be drastically reduced. One I hit the 625k in liquid funding I will then decide how much of a buffer I want - and if I want to carry on working and how..

Amazing! This is inspiring. Keep pushing and your money will be working harder than you before you know it.

I've got figures back to 2006 when I first lived on my own. The acceleration is mind-blowing.

Jan 07 - $20,398
Jan 08 - $44,379
Jan 09 - $67,549
Jan 10 - $96,611
Jan 11 - $126,207
Jan 12 - $158,346
Jan 13 - $201,757
Jan 14 - $310,433
Today - $381,040

We had a really exciting moment last year when we realised that in 2013 our net worth had actually increased by more than our net salary. That really got the wheels turning for us.
