Hey guys Swagbucks is an awesome site that allows you to earn swagbucks which can be turned into giftcards. The app to earn while you sleep is called swagbucks tv. By only doing swagbucks tv app (they do have a second app called Entertainow*which does the same thing but takes longer) you will earn 50 Swagbucks a day which will net you 450SB in 9 days getting you your first $5 giftcard. And this is just the bare minimum, I get about 200 SB each day now by following my own guide. Pretty Cool eh? Give it a try!

More about the app, how to get started, and tips and tricks for newbies and veterans can be found in my step-by-step guide here on Reddit: http://redd.it/229bf6
My guide is designed to include a lot of information about the passive Swagbucks you can earn, as well as semi-passive ways to earn.

If you want to jump right in on your own and check the guide later click here: [MOD EDIT: Referral links from this user removed due to too much spam.] *Disclaimer: this is my referral link*

And in case you guys are at all interested; attached is my earnings in the past 3.5-4 weeks.

Looks like it works out to $2/night (you earned $50 in about 25 nights), which isn't terrible I suppose.

EDIT: It's actually about $0.16 (16 cents) per night, see calculations later in the thread.  Not counting electricity costs, signup time, etc.
/END EDIT

Seems best for those with a debt emergency, lots of time to do mundane tasks, or those with a low earning power.  College students, basically.  ;)

EDIT: With the new calculations, not sure it's worth it for anyone.
/END EDIT

Thanks for sharing all that info!

My guide attempts to elimate the mundane tasks because if I'm at all like most people, mundane tasks are the worst. I attempt to display the most passive ways to earn. Of course there are some more intense methods in my guide and thats for more of the verterans

lol nice poll, mr. 2 posts 2 referral links.

I went ahead and deleted your swagbucks link in the Bing thread since it's now in violation of the new improved forum rules. Thought it was more relevant here.

Don't you end up paying more for all the internet bandwidth on your phone so it can watch all that tv app thingamy?

I pay it on my iPad so no bandwidth costs.

Surely this is against the T&Cs? What value are you supposed to be providing to them?

Honestly, I am not sure what value you provide them watching the videos themselves.  I play quite a bit of them, some of the music is decent and they have some good cooking clips.  Still not sure what they get.

I'm not really familiar with it, but I imagine the value you are supposed to be providing to them, if you actually do watch their silly video stream, is being exposed to their adverts. Of course, Mustachians' exposure to adverts is going to be of significantly lower value than the general public's, but it's clear what their intention is, and I am skeptical that that intention wouldn't be protected by the T&Cs. After all, if an advertiser pays them to make people see their adverts, it ought to be on the condition that they get what they are paying for.

I don't remember any adverts, now I am going to have to pay attention while I watch one, lol.  I normally just have it on in the background.

It is not against there terms, they are well aware that many, if not most people don't pay attention to it. It isn't there problem if people don't pay attention to it, as long as the advertisers continue to pay.

And swagbucks is probably the most popular site that gives out giftcards as rewards. They have over 3 million likes on facebook.

Hey Marty! Well you wouldn't watch it using your data, you would use your wifi. But also, the app is not the only way to get free money through swagbucks. There are other ways to earn on the computer as well that don't require much effort. I suggest you try it out!

Heh, the poll made me laugh.

This may not be the best way to join a new community.

I chose "I'm not interested in making money while I sleep" - certainly not for the amount of money it would make versus the work it would take.  I don't fit the criteria I posted earlier:
Seems best for those with a debt emergency, lots of time to do mundane tasks, or those with a low earning power.

There's much easier ways to earn a lot more money.  But it could be useful for those people.  (Similar to how the credit card balance transfer game to earn 50 or 100 bucks used to be worth it, but probably isn't later on.)

I personally do find swagbucks to be worth it because I have down time at work and can have things playing it the background.  I don't do surveys anymore because they are not worth the time, but mypoints and swagbucks are.  I normally spend less than five to fifteen minutes on them daily (again the videos do run in the background) and get about ten dollars a month.  I can't make extra at work (no overtime) and I want my non-work time to be with family (I have a young daughter).  I think it matters how things work in your life.

From Swagbucks themselves:
Quote
Don'ts:
Search the web only to win Swag Bucks
Click on any links that you aren't genuinely interested in
Use any bot or program that auto searches for you
Seems like it pretty clearly is against their T&Cs, and it is their problem, because the advertisers won't continue paying if users aren't actually seeing their adverts.

Normally, the interests of a business (Swagbucks) are aligned with the interests of their customers (advertisers), because they can only stay in business if the products they provide (that's you!) are what the customers are willing to pay for.

Wait, Swagbucks does other stuff too?  Searches and stuff?

So the "earnings" picture posted in the OP weren't just from the overnight thing, but lots of other work as well?  That drops down the earnings per hour quite a bit, I'd imagine.

Specific to videos, they do say this:

On SBTV do not use any auto refresh add-ons or auto-watchers

Sorry, perhaps I didn't make myself clear? The app is made by swagbucks to run automatically. No program is being used to have it run automatically. Therefore you aren't breaking their terms of service.

I can see the confusion here. They have Swagbucks tv on their website too. And that CANNOT be run automatically.

It is originally a search site.  You get a point a day for having the toolbar on your browser and points for searching using the site.  I actually have found the site pretty good for search except for complex searches.  It uses google and something else I can't remember as a base.  In addition, they have now added printable coupons for 10 points each (using coupons.com), games (I never use those), the videos and random other stuff I never use.  I get about $5 month from my normal searching behavior plus the occasionally coupon.  I now get another $5/month with having the videos play in background.

Swagbuck TV on their website gives three swagbucks per set of ten vs two swagbucks from the app.  But, it only matters what your last video was played on, so you have watch nine videos on the computer, but if your last is on the app, two swagbucks.

Thanks for the clarification.

So $5/mo for playing the videos / 30 nights / 2 "interactions" with it (turning it on at night, off in the morning) = 8 cents every time you deal with it.  (Minus extra electricity costs of it running, potentially extra internet charges, not counting the time to sign up for the account, time to redeem the gift cards, etc.)  Not nearly as good as the two dollars a night I thought earlier.  You find that's worth it?

Well, obviously nothing is going to beat getting an actual job. This is also great for those of us who don't have to pay for electricity, or extra internet charges.

I've noticed that you really pick apart every single little aspect.

Absolutely.  Something like this should stand up to scrutiny, and one ought to thoroughly analyze things.

I appreciate the compliment.  :)

I do find it worth it, but I do it at work, lol so no extra cost for electricity and it is an ipad so no extra charges. :)

My husband and I both do it. Between running the apps on our phones, we do some auto run activities. You just start it and it progresses through it. It is not much but for starting it and letting the auto run go while I go clean a toilet it is pretty good lol. Between my husband and I we can get about $100 a month with very little effort.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
