Made the Switch
« on: March 30, 2015, 07:39:55 AM »
Made the switch out of 8 (yes 8) different investment vehicles (all with different companies with high costs) to Vanguard.

The concierge service was terrific, the transfers were smooth, and now I can go to the Vanguard website and see my "world" in one place.

DH has a phone appointment on Wednesday to move his stuff.

Been reading MMM for almost a year and finally got brave enough to make the move.  Should have done it long ago.

Your post inspired me to take a look at my 401(k) investments, since they've been on autopilot for years. I completely forgot that I was investing in the '20xx' retirement plan, which had ER of .75%! Switched those over to the only Vanguard fund they offered.

Congrats! I know that's a big hassle, but it will be paying dividends <pun intended> for decades to come!

Shortly after the switch was done, I saw there were dividends listed on my Vanguard tally.  It was exciting!

I'm grateful for this forum.  You tell this to "normal" people and they think you are bragging or just plain nuts.

For some of us, both statements are true.

My bad, no criticism meant.

It is a very good thing to have finances organized at a low cost firm.

I think it is more of a relief than anything (besides saving the disgusting fees we were paying).   Between DH and I, we had 15 statements to find out how much 'stash we had.

No criticism taken. Just a joke.
