We got our renewal, and (as usual) there was a 10% increase. We live in FL, where homeowners insurance is notoriously bad. We were going to be paying ~$2700 for a replacement value of ~$220K. I contacted our agent, and she shopped us around, and now we're getting a policy for ~$1700 for a replacement value of $205K (we paid $143K 5 years ago).
We started out (5 years ago) on Citizens, which is the catchall for folks who can't otherwise get insured down here. We were taken over by someone else, but our premiums kept going up. This is the first time we've been able to get a policy on the open market, which is why it's so different. We had to get a $120 inspection, but we're still coming out way ahead. Plus, my agent says this is a better company than our current one. It's so nice to finally get some good insurance news.
