Load of baby stuff for $27
« on: July 22, 2015, 08:33:18 PM »
We are expecting our first child in November (yay!)

In trying to keep costs down, I have been searching garage sales and my local Buy Nothing Facebook group. Between the FB group and garage sales I managed to procure:

Jogging stroller
Regular stroller
High chair
2 big bags of baby clothes.

Grand total: $27. Everything is in good condition and I checked for recalls on the strollers and high chair and all appears to be well. This joins the loads of hand-me-downs we have already acquired and our baby isn't even born yet!

Tell everybody you are having a baby. You will be inundated with barely used baby clothes. I've given away a ton of free baby clothes and I am still drowning in them.

This has been very true for us. Same with maternity clothes. I've spent very little and I'm better dressed pregnant than non-pregnant.

I used to work at a high-end baby/maternity store and even in my pre-mustache days was astounded at what people would spend for clothes that get such little use.

Nice! So far we're still at $0 for necessary stuff. DW had to buy one cheap outfit for fun. But we also have some more people to tap for more free stuff. There are a lot of recent births among co-workers at our offices, and we're hitting up people for stuff. I think for the first couple years we'll just have to buy diapers.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
