Let me tell you about my backpack
« on: September 20, 2015, 06:21:05 PM »
I bought a medium sized High Sierra camping backpack for $90 in the summer of 2008. I lived out of that bag for two months while hiking around Europe.

Then, after I made it back home to the states, I used it to carry my groceries to my apartment by bike or bus for the last seven years, during hundreds of trips. It has held up very well. The only problem with it is a single zipper tassel is threadbare and one pair of clasps is broken. Otherwise this thing is seemingly indestructible and allows me to carry easily 50-60 pounds worth of stuff.

All for a simple, one-time payment of $90 in 2008.

I sincerely doubt I've ever made a better purchase, or put an item to better use and re-use. I'll be very sad the day that backpack finally falls apart.

Hmmm, it looks like they may be able to help you with those repairs. This would require you parting with it for a few weeks, which may be too much to ask, lol. I bought Tumi luggage at deep discount back in 2001. It has traveled around the world with me and the cost per use is literally pennies. It could use a good refurb, but I use it so much it will probably never happen. Black duct tape has provided a serviceable repair.

Very badass!  My backpack is a child's school backpack that a person in a rich neighborhood threw in free when I bought her used couch.  It carries my thermos, sandwiches and wallet whenever I go out.  I have to safety pin the zipper tabs together to keep it shut but it definitely does the job I got it for.
