Last minute badass Xmas tree
« on: December 21, 2013, 03:25:13 AM »
We went shopping for a Xmas tree today, only to find they were all sold out, except for some scungy looking things in pots at $60 :(  There were heaps last week, don't know where they all went.

My son looked at me and said, "Well the money mustache solution would be to cut our own". I remembered last week I was served a notice to clear foliage around our power line within 4 weeks, and there was a small coastal banksia  that had to come out as a result.

Home we went, chainsaw out, dropped the tree neatly between various objects, not hitting any of them and most importantly not getting tangled in the power line. Trimmed out a tree, remainder in green waste bin/stored as wood.

Unique native Xmas tree installed in about an hour.

Cost $0, a bit of sweat, and a job done that we would have had to do after Xmas anyway.
