Knocking down that gas bill!
« on: March 19, 2013, 07:32:46 AM »
I finally got the wife on board with dropping the temperature in the house at certain times.  It's paying off big time.  This last billing cycle has been 7.7 degrees (F) colder than last year, but our gas usage has come out exactly the same as the previous year!  That's about $20 for the month.

Good for you both!  It's not a bad thing to wear a sweater or throw an extra blanket on the bed.  We have gas heat too, so we keep the heat down.  Does your wife see the benefit?  Breaking even is good, but does she what to see better?

Not really.  She's on-board in theory, but in practice she doesn't feel the pain of paying for the extra heat.  The house and all the house bills are mine.

i turned down the heat 6 degrees when i am home alone.  "fantastic!"  then i turned it down 1 degree at night.  "why the hell is it so cold in here?"
