Just saved $720 a year by switching to a go phone plan!
« on: November 11, 2015, 12:23:25 PM »
I've been meaning to do it for a while, but pulled the trigger today. It took maybe 15 minutes at the store. Service switched in a minute or so. Cut my bill from $100 a month to $40 a month, using my existing paid off smart phone, on the AT&T Go phone prepaid plan. Same service, unlimited text and talk, and 1.5 gigs of data at full speed then throttles after that, but still unlimited data.

$720 a year saved. It would be more if I didn't have a huge employer discount on that account already. I would have been paying $130 a month, which would have put me at $1,080 a year saved.

It may not be as cheap as some of the $2 a month phone plans some here have, but I need normal phone service for work. Can't risk unreliable phone service.

Calling Comcast next today...After I fix my GD toilet....Last time they were able to give me high speed internet for $45 a month for a year. They didn't bite when I called a few weeks ago, but last time I also had to call a couple times...

You might check out Consumer Cellular.  It uses the ATT network.  I switched 2 phones to it recently and have had great service.
