Sold a Wii U game for $275
« on: November 18, 2021, 12:08:52 PM »
Back in 2015, a Wii U game came out called Devil's Third. I don't recall all the details, but there was some development drama and through some weird circumstances the USA only got a small number of physical copies of the game (< 600 maybe?). Anyway, I decided to buy one on launch day for $60. At worst, I wasted $60 on a mediocre game. At best, maybe I'd make some money a few years later.

The latter happened. I did beat the game back in 2015/2016. Not a very good one. Anyway, I decided to look it up on a whim the other day and saw copies for sale for about $300, give or take. Mine ended up selling for $275! After accounting for what I paid for it and shipping to the buyer, I made about $200 profit.

Not a very calculated form of badassity - more luck. But it worked out!

That’s cool, very good ROI for what I’m assuming wasn’t much work to buy and sell.  I enjoy taking small gambles with fun money on things from garage sales or Facebook marketplace, and sometimes even auctioned storage units.  I don’t really consider it an investment or a business, more of a hobby that in the worst case I’ll break even, but always learn things, and sometimes win big.
