I saved 100% of my income in 2016
« on: March 04, 2017, 08:28:21 AM »
Hi all :)

I'm from Canada and I just received my T4 in the mail this week for my taxes and it stated I made about 60K last year. Accordingly, I also went from 0$ invested to about 65K invested in the last year!

A bit of context : I'm 24, just graduated (in April 2016) and I had about 20k in savings prior since I was thinking about doing a masters. That didn't happen since I found a great job before graduating and started working and going to school full time in January 2016.

So, last year, I lived of my previous savings and invested 100% of my income without even realizing until now. Super proud to be part of this community and I wanted to say thanks to everyone for being so inspiring!

I see what you're saying, but it sounds more like a 75% savings rate. Badass either way!

Now you can buy a sweet ride for cash! And use your income for high insurance payments.
Or use the $ as the cornerstone of future FI and FU money . . . . hmmm.

Now this is the key learning point to be had from Mr. Pete A.

AudeM, you are in the unique position today to be bloggisg (or thought broadcasting to Mars, if the case my be in 15 years) about how you were the millennial who retired at 35.

My wife and I missed this 20 years ago, instead I started my first bonus check with a hotub, skis, a flatscreen monitor for my parents and $200 jeans for my sister.  I'm still working at 43.

Keep up the great work for your future self!
