I quit!
« on: February 25, 2021, 11:38:47 AM »
I quit my insanely toxic job today.  The sense of relief is overwhelming.  I stayed way too long.  My FU money helped plus I'm now going to be on a 1 year contract w/ another company doing work I enjoy to fill the gap until my FIRE date!

Congrats.  Good call on the contract.  I can't see FIREing during a raging pandemic personally.  Better to STFH and earn.

I was so relieved I actually cried when I got home.  And I’m not a crier.

The couple times I have left a toxic work setup, the anticipation was far more intense than the post FU relief. It felt like a "flattened beer" experience the evening I quit, I don't know why... so it was really good to hear that you were relieved to a point that it got the waterworks out... I wish I had that experience at least once.

Good for you! Even if you can't fire for life, quit your insane jobs and look for another one if you need retirement money. If you're good, you should be gainfully employed by a year at least, but more likely a couple of months.
