I've finally done it. After years of saving and investing, the income now covers the expenses at below the 4% SWR. The little home in the mountains is bought and paid for. Tomorrow, I give notice to my boss that I'm quitting. I've been planning this for so long, I even found my theme song for tomorrow (Old Man Luedecke - I Quit My Job). So excited! And nervous! Wish me luck.

My dream is also to RE somewhere in the mountains, and seeing that you are about to achieve that in your 30s, so inspiring. Congratulations!

The deed is done! It feels amazing. The trepidation from yesterday has been replaced by relief (oh sweet relief!) and excitement for the future. The conversation was pretty short, and I'm sure I'll have to have lots of follow up conversations over the next few weeks, but I feel like I have finally let go of a weight I've been carrying around for years. I wish you all the best of luck on your continued FI journeys! Frugality works!

Oh yeah: location is in Colorado, about 30 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park. For anyone else looking in Colorado, the front range housing market is crazy right now, but some places up in the mountains have not yet fully recovered from the housing crash and some good deals can still be found.

It sure is! I can only hope in another 5-10 years there are still some mountain towns near there with deals left to find.

You are awesome! Congratulations on accomplishing so much, and on being on the other side of the talk with your boss. We used to live about 40 minutes from Rocky Mtn. National Park, so you've made me jealous and a bit homesick. :)
