I have an emergency fund!
« on: November 20, 2018, 02:40:10 AM »

I've been working a second job all year, and put every dollar earned into an emergency fund - today I hit my 6 month bare bones living expenses number ($10k)!!!

It is such a relief to know that I have savings in the event of an emergency.

That is really great.  From a very non-frugal beginner, you are example where I can say, "I can get there." versus the $1,000,000.
My focus is in the Dave Ramsey camp, to later roll into the MMM camp.
What I find interesting as we discuss poverty in the school where I teach is that to bring individuals out of poverty, they place them with middle class families.  I believe I need to look for FIRE members of my community to change my ways of thinking.

Congrats!  We were so relieved to have our EF and 10K was to point when we breathed a bit easier.

Congrats!!!

You will be amazed how having an emergency fund reduces so much stress.  Now many of the problems that life will throw at you will become minor inconveniences instead of emergencies.  Back when I first got my emergency fund built, I got fired shortly after.  I was able to take my time finding a right job instead of just any job and enjoy some time off.
