While lots of people were sitting on the couch, eating too many calories, subjecting themselves to over-the-top consumer ads and watching a violent sport where men throw themselves around sustaining head injuries, I was doing the same but added one additional
badass element.
I did the superbowl challenge which was the following:
- 1 pullup for each point scored in the game
- Pushups totaling the game score, after every time a team scores (like what the Oregon duck does during their games). See the table below (after the first score, I did 3 pushups. After the second I did 6 more, 3rd score: 12 pushups, etc. . .).
As you can see in the attached graphs, I normally average around 70-80 pushups per day and around 20 pullups. Because of the entertaining and high scoring game (won by the Eagles!), I did 74 pullups and 533 pushups. First of all, it took me about 2 hours after the game to finish my pushups as I was getting tired, and the last 200 or so my chest and arms were really sore. I only had to do 121 before halftime so that wasn't bad, but the 4th quarter was brutal (requiring 268 pushups).
