Hurt so Good - Loan paid off!
« on: December 05, 2013, 10:21:34 AM »
I just  bit the bullet - took Mr. Money Moustaches' advice and pretended like my debt was the equivalent of my hair being on fire and I took my paycheck today and put almost all of it toward a single debt and paid it off.  Ooh, it hurt.  BUT- - nothing like knowing i'm gonna start 2014 with one less monthly installment.  Can  I get some Mustachian love on this one please!

Nice job.  I did that last month with one of my on-going credit cards (big orange box store) and it felt so good once I recovered from the shock.  One less bill to pay, and now I'm putting less on account at my supplier (I'm a contractor) as well, I just pay with my debit card instead.  This meant that last month's payment to the building materials supplier was hundreds not thousands.

To lbdance,

My next step is a hard one - I want to get rid of my PMI on my rental house - it's $233 at 6% interest rate and I need to pay $1700 a month consistently for 10 months to get rid of it but I have to do it to help move my rental into the black  b/c right now it's still in the red and I have two other student loans to pay off and I could pay one of them off sooner than the PMI but financially it makes more sense to do the PMI first. It just means a long time before another great feeling like this one.  Oh well, October 2014 here I come!  :)  That'll be a great day too!

Whoops! I miscalculated on the PMI big time, not sure how I did that but now that looks like it might not be possible by Oct 2014. Maybe I can get a job to help speed things along. Not ready to give up that date yet, had it stuck in my head for quite a while....

Good luck on pounding down that PMI.  Keep on the roll.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
