Many people don't know that HSAs have a brokerage option. Now that I have plenty of surplus savings available on top of maxing out my 401(k) and IRA, I also max out, but don't use, my HSA. I shift the funds into the brokerage side of the account and invest them so they can grow tax-free at market rates of return. Many decades from now, I'll tap into those accumulations to help offset increasing medical expenses.
