My commute is 23.5km each way, so 47km per day ~29.2miles.
It typically only takes me 5 min longer by bike than by car, and is certainly a lot more frustration free than driving every day.
I'm pretty hard-ass, and ride 5 days a week, rain hail or shine - clocking up some 700-800km per month.
95% of my ride is on a bike path that follows a small creek, with lots of open space, park land and natural bushland.
It is shielded from the urban jungle of the city, and I can often forget that I am riding my way across the city!
I love the abundance of other bikers, joggers, walkers etc, and the abundance of wildlife along the route.
Within 5 min of leaving work, I have forgotten all the stresses of the day, and just enjoy the ride....
Life is good.
