Holiday Spending Hangover? Bah Humbug.
« on: January 03, 2017, 11:15:36 AM »
During the last two weeks of 2016, DW and I took our usual low-to-zero holiday spending to another level.  Purging!

Instead of gift hunting, we went on a mission to eliminate whatever junk might still be hiding within our four walls.

Sadly we found a bunch of things reminding us of how foolish we'd been in the past.  But that quickly changed to joy through a Craigslist and ebay sale ad holiday flurry!

It became a game to see how much of the stockpile we could unload for actual dollars.  I was quite shocked that some things actually turned out to have value.  I was also pretty amused to pretend to be shocked that no one was bidding on a wonderfully pristine Kitty Cucumber ornament.  Heathens!

DW was particularly impressive, posting nearly 50 ebay sales ads in December alone and selling about 1/3 of them!

We even used some of the more....eccentric...finds as an impromptu Yankee Swap base with my family.  Facial expressions were truly hilarious when some of these 'gems' were unwrapped.

A decently large pile of items ended up at the Goodwill, and overall it was a very satisfying holiday season being able to shrink our collection of junk and actually making a few laughs and dollars in the process!

Awesome.

We did just two loads to Goodwill in December & I have 5 auctions on ebay now.  The limiting factor for us is time.  I'd love to spend a month purging.
