High-Speed Internet Hiatus (Published 2014-01-10)

Well, I'm officially off the juice. After almost a year of experimentation I have finally canceled my high-speed Internet. About two years ago Charter discontinued the Internet plan I was on and so I was bumped up to a faster and more expensive plan. I have been pretty ticked ever since, mainly because I didn't even come close to fully utilizing the older plans bandwidth.

Now I am using only my mifi hotspot which charges two cents per megabyte. This may sound expensive but since I don't stream videos or music Internet speed isn't that important and my monthly data usage typically comes in well under 600 megabytes. Additionally, paying by the megabyte increases my awareness of how much data I am consuming and so I am finding that it is an excellent way to regulate how much time I spend on the internet reading blogs, facebook, or twitter.
