Helping Others to Save
« on: August 20, 2019, 08:57:54 PM »
Hello,
After reading badassities from members of this forum, I got some inspiration to share mine. I am a professor in a community college and fairly understood the importance of money since my childhood. The thing that I do is save money for my students. I adopt textbook from open education resources i.e. free textbook to my students. I am helping my students save $200 -$400 depending on the class they take from me.  While this is a small savings from an individual student, but cumulatively, saved around $30000 for all the students who took my class. I am fairly new to my profession, the savings mentioned is just for one year. Down the road, I am hopeful to save at least a million dollars before I retire to my students. Anyone interested in getting free educational resources happy to help the best I can.  Feel free to reach out to me those who are interested.

That's a huge one. Good on you for thinking this way. The cost of textbooks was a massive thing when I was studying. I didn't buy all of them because I couldn't afford them, and opted for the library ones. I spent hours and hours in that library waiting to use them!

You, and colleagues like you, are a god send to CC students who are paying their own ride. I can understand buying a book. Personally I need that tactile sensation and marking up to study but what used to make my blood boil is when a professor required the current *edition* . Like whoa buddy, last I checked no major advances have rattled the foundation of general chemistry. Kudos you and your ilk!
