Hello Internet, this is my home

The back story ~
In April 2014, I cut out home internet and cable because my hair caught on fire after walking through a gauntlet of face punches as well as a hornet's nest (divorce and debt).  I had emotionally, spiritually, physically, and mentally hit bottom and knew I needed desperate measures!  So once the Internet was out, I became very creative in finding ways, when needed, to connect, and honestly, didn't miss it that much.  Granted I am single and have no kids!  It really helped me focus on the job at hand which was to get right sized!

As of June 30, 2016, I had completely turned my life around from using suggestions here on MMM, The Minimalists, The Prosperous Heart by Julia Cameron, and other savvy blogs.  Taken action has given me the opportunity to finally leave a soul sucking job (my "needed" employment after retiring from the Army in 2007) because I didn't act responsibly when it came to spending, saving, investing, etc.  So in Oct 28, my birthday, I walked out of that toxic environment I called work. I didn't wake up that day thinking I would walk out but it felt so good, especially after close to 3 years of hard work, to say I'm done. My military retirement more than covers my monthly expenses. Now because I have started a very small business (my passion) the internet was needed.  Hello Internet, this is my home!

Vermont has very limited options when it comes to home internet. I chose when I had before (Comcast/Xfinity) getting the service through a promotion from Amazon.  I bought my own modem and it has been great.  25MB service is 29.99 a month 1 year, 39.99 a month second year, 49.99 a month 3rd year.  Taxes included no leasing fees since I own my modem.  There was a small snafu, but both Comcast and Amazon stepped up.  Comcast credited my account $100 because I learned to speak up assertively.  Also I am willing (not really) to go without it again and my account records show that.  I am so pumped.  So thank you MMM.  You really helped me out in the process.

I am currently paying 79.95 for internet [Xfinity/Comcast]. It is 80 MB. I need to find a way to lower my bill.

Thank you & hope you can it get lower! When I cut it back in 2014 they offered lower cost if I stayed. I needed desperate measures so passed on their offer. They do anything to make you stay.
