Granny vs. auto repair
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:53:06 AM »
This frugal 52 y/o granny just spent an hour replacing the window regulator on my Jeep!  If I can do it anyone can.

A few weeks ago the passenger side window regulator went on our 2002 Jeep.  We took it to the local shop and had it replaced to the tune of $200+  Fast forward a few days later and the driver's side went.  I had recently read MMM's post on his current car repairs... So I watched this Youtube video several times   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGkPoOd2zi8 and ordered the Torx wrench and window regulator from Amazon.com.

I figured what the heck, if I messed it up I could then bring it to the shop and pay them to do it and return the part to Amazon.

It only took one hour to do and I saved over $100 in labor and the part was cheaper on Amazon too.  Next time something happens to it, I'll be perusing the net to figure out a solution and only if I determine I can't do the work will it go into the shop.
