Got laid off, and had a new job in a month

So, I got laid off and got a 3 week severance package. I also received unemployment. Then I landed a new job in about a month making way more money + more at work amenities. During my time on unemployment I actually got paid more in cash because of severance plus unemployment.

I am now making over 100k + bonus, and was making 68k + bonus. I am posting here because I can't really tell friends/family how much I am making now. With these sums I'll be able to invest much more.

Lesson: Continuously invest time in growing your knowledge and skillset. It will pay off.

I can somewhat relate, I took two weeks off between jobs and I actually earned more the second half of the month (when not working) than the first, because I got over 10 days of vacation pay out.

I was not expecting the payout and it was a nice bonus :)
