Got a Raise Today!
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:39:45 PM »
I work for a small family run business so we don't really have regular reviews, raises, etc. We've been so busy this year that we need to hire some more staff . . . and in working on job descriptions for new positions I got to thinking about my own.

I wrote the ad we would write if we were looking to hire somebody who does everything I do, complete with the new compensation level listed at the bottom. Handed it off to the owner of the company on Friday and asked that she read it over on the weekend and we'd discuss it on Monday. She said yes to a 23% increase, all that I asked for! And it'll be retroactive for this last pay period too, so I'll be getting a big fat check this week. FEED the STACHE!

great job!.. Hope it doesn't push you into a higher tax bracket and if it does make sure you got that 401k and Traditonal IRA (if eligible) maxed out..

No point in giving away money to the tax man

I'm with you Exflyboy - have already been maxing out my HSA (and sticking the extra in the lowest cost index fund offered in my plan). I'll have to start bumping up my contributions to my IRA too . . . I'd much rather pay my future self than my current taxman ;-).

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
