Replaced my wife's trusty 2004 Prius with a 2004 Honda Odyssey (not necessary for 2 kids, but nice). The Prius had 217k miles on the original battery, so I was starting to get a bit concerned there. Co-worker had this van as an extra vehicle (only 135k miles), hit a deer and suffered some superficial front end damage and was looking to sell it.
End result- $2,000 van with low miles (after repairs and fancy pants stereo/backup camera upgrade)
Sold Prius for $2,700
Net gain- $700!!!
This compounds a good year where I also had an insurance payout on my 2015 Nissan Leaf of $6,000 due to a bad driver sideswiping me (I repaired the damage for $2,000 and pocketed the remaining $4,000.
This is on a Leaf that I only paid $7,000 for at auction 3 years ago!!
