Google Spreadsheet to Track Spending
« on: April 17, 2013, 09:19:48 AM »
The link below is an online Google spreadsheet to track spending by category, day by day.
You can make a copy for yourself by clicking File, Make a Copy
Then you can edit it to fit your needs.  Note, you cannot modify my spreadsheet in any way, you must make your own copy if you want to personalize it to your needs.
For me, I call this spreadsheet Spend, and it is just our daily spending items, and does not include fixed expenses or utilities etc.
I hope someone finds this useful

I used to do something very similar before MMM introduced me to mint.com.  If you are comfortable with having your financial info all in one place, it seems pretty nice (though I can understand not liking that aspect).  If you haven't tried it, and aren't opposed to the idea, give it a shot and see what you think.  It might make your life a tad easier :-)

Nice spreadsheet.  But I agree with FitStash.  Mint.com is nifty application for tracking spending.

I love Mint!  It made me realize which areas to cut.  My food allowance went drastically down from last year.  Didn't realize how badly I spent.  I even written a Mint semi-overview recently to spread the love.

I do Mint. I'm not very pleased with it because it seems hard for me to get the spending categories and hierarchies of categories set up the way I want them.

But it is nice to see all my accounts and transactions updated real time every day.

MINT.COM really easy. love the budget. reluctant to enter so much personal data, however.

Why are you lumping your houseware with your groceries?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care at all about categories. I like simple. My budget tells me how much I can spend on "living" in a month. That number goes at the top, a calculation showing how much I have left right below, then transactions below that. It's all one bucket; why make it more complicated than it needs to be?
