Following our media debut in early April (Huffington Post, Province, and CTV National News, mentioned here http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/share-your-badassity/we-made-the-papers!/msg259845/#msg259845 ), I was asked to put on a lunch seminar at work about saving money and living frugally in Vancouver. I did it last week, and it was a hit!

I talked about tracking your money, and saving on housing (big one in Vancouver), entertainment, and groceries. I threw in a lot of personal anecdotes to make it funny at the same time as educational, and it seemed to work - I've gotten great feedback since! As a nice gesture, management also gave me a nice bouquet of flowers that are now on my kitchen table, and a movie gift card.

We also finally got our act together and wrote a short e-book that we've been meaning to for a long time, basically a complete guide to affordable living in Vancouver (though the bulk of it would apply to nearly anywhere). People have been asking us to do this forever, and it's finally done! We named it after our blog, Incoming Assets, and there are links to it from our blog at www.incomingassets.com . It was a lot of fun to write, so I'm embarking on a solo e-book project as well now, entirely on budget cooking, with all our favourite recipes (another project I've been postponing forever!).

I'm very happy with our accomplishments!

Congratulations!  That's so great that your talk went over well - and hopefully between that your e-book, a few folks in your area will be able to sleep a bit more soundly at night.  Most importantly, congrats on accomplishing so much to spread the word that frugality is not a four letter word.  ;)

Thanks! I think there will be a lot of people sleeping more soundly soon - several people said they're planning to apply to housing co-ops, which are as little as half the price of comparable rentals here. I can't even imagine how great it would feel to have an extra, say, $700-$800 in your pocket every month, basically overnight when you move - I've tightened up a lot of stuff over the years, but never anything that dramatic.

Congratulations about the lunch-time talk and the ebook!

It is great to get a different point of view out there regarding Vancouver living.

Way to set an example and spread the word.  You're having a direct impact on making people's lives better, and making them happier.  Awesome.  :)
