Fun CC Reward Game

Ever since I learned about the charles schwab amex platinum pts conversion benefit a few years ago I decided to see how large I can grow what I call my "Credit Card Rewards Investment Fund".  Basically I maximize amex membership rewards pts by using a few of their different cards + sign up bonuses then convert those points to Charles Schwab at a 1.25 rate (though they just lowered it to 1.1, bummed by that).

 Instead of investing in boring index funds, I use it to satisfy my urge to trade in an undisciplined manner just to see how high I can get it.   Currently at over 15 K -- all basically "free" money!  Now I want to see how long it will take me to grow this to over 100 K.  I'm mostly trading SPY every day either short or long using 3x margin.   Since it's "free" money I'm fine with being aggressive with this experiment.   Now if only I had just put it all in Tesla :).

It's cool to see the money in one place.  I wish I had taken all of my bank bonus/credit card rewards money and thrown it into a separate investment account over the years just to see what it would have grown to by now. 

Just glancing at my spreadsheets, I have earned $72,500 from bank bonuses and credit card rewards since starting in 2016, so maybe I'd have $100,000+ in that account from growth.

thats a fun thing to do with these.  i have no idea how much i've earned in free travel over the years thru spending most of my points on travel but if i had to guess its 200k or more.

yes unfortunately this is just my amex MR pts account.   I ran a business for about 4 years spending 5-8 K on average a day on google ads.   Put it all on a capital one spark at 2%, so that was a really nice haul but all that cash back basically just got mixed with our general personal accounts.  I'm starting the process of building some new shopify stores so hopefully I can get my ad spend high again for those and put them on the amex gold.  I believe its 4 MR pts for each dollar in the marketing category and then with charles schwab it will put it at 4.4.  Really bummed they lowered that multiple, that was nice while it lasted.
