free phone plan (sprint network)

For people with sprint phones head over to https://ringplus.net/#plans for their free plan.

I'm on their "truly free" plan instead of just "free" plan. I get 120 minutes vs 200, and 40 text vs 50 each month. But I rather not give them my credit card info... so... I'll take it.

Anyways, I didn't have a bad experience with sprint, they just didn't have the phone I want. But I'll take "free" any day so I signed up my old sprint phones (I don't sell them). Using google voice, I just "trade" the phones until I run out of text/minutes...

To make calls, you listen to radio but I don't make many calls to begin with so I'm okay with it. The free phones are mostly my "emergency" phones anyways and maybe if my main phone service goes down. I'm using an ATT mvno for it.

I know people generally use freedompop for a free sprint phone these days, but this is a good alternative for phones that they don't support

The "Pepper" plan looks awesome. Almost perfect in fact for my uses. Do you know what the 10s are for in the "Unlimited 4g coverage" column?

I've been aware of what's been going on at RingPlus. On one hand, I'm hesitant to add them to the guide due to some datamining issues in their terms of service (which makes sense given their free services and the advertising), on the other hand... if anyone's willing to go Republic, I'd rather see them on RingPlus. Greater deal for the money, proper support, better features, BYOSD, less heinous terms of service, competitively priced, similar WiFi calling capacity but standards compliant, one bill. It's a win across the board for cheapskates.

There is no "Unlimited 4G Coverage" column. There is, however, a "Full Speed 4G LTE Data" column. The tens you're referring to is the quantity of data available per month, in megabytes... so the coming Pepper plan is 250 minutes, 500 SMS messages, and 10MB of data.

I just saw this- and came over to MMM forum to post in case anyone else was interested and found this thread. 

I agree the Pepper plan looks amazing.  Basically meets all of my needs  for free, with option of buying some data if I want it.  I only ever *need* it for gps occasionally.

I was also thrilled to find this would work with an old Virgin Mobile phone I have- previously I had been under the impression the VM phones were pretty much locked to VM and this was useless to me.  Double Score!

This looks almost too good to be true. While their free plans don't offer enough for my needs, it  might be good for my mom who only uses her phone maybe once a month, and doesn't like needing to buy minutes for her track phone every few months. She doesn't use texting nor care about having internet on there, so I'm thinking this would work good for her. So if I'm understanding this right, she'd just need to buy a cheep phone from their store, sign up for one of the free plans, and then she'd be set?

any sprint phone will do if it isn't blocked due to missed payments/etc. If it is a clean sprint phone, it should work.

you could buy it from craigslist if you want, a newer phone with wifi/gps would be good. One with a good size for car gps, music player, dash camera with backup phone service if I get lost/in an accident (i know 911 is "free" on any phone, but my insurance company isn't, neither is a tow truck).

it even has voip on the free plan. I'm not sure if it comes out of your minutes, didn't use it but I see it on my login page and have a login info for it

A Caveat - if you have a non sprint phone (i.e. Virgin Mobile or other MVNO) the phone will work, but Data may not...

The Leonardo Plan from ring plus
1,000 Minutes/text and 750mb data... for "free", you need minimum $15 on account.
For many MMM guys, this should be "enough" because they allow wifi calling too

No. Republic Wireless handsets are carrier and firmware locked to Republic Wireless. You want to switch carriers? You have to buy another new phone.
