FMLA Leave
« on: April 22, 2018, 09:55:43 PM »
Still a few years out from FI, but my wife just gave birth to twins and since we have a sizeable stash, I was able to take my 12 week unpaid FMLA leave without thinking twice.  Really nice to have this bonding time with my twins right off the bat.  Feel very lucky to have this bonding time as a new dad.  The kicker is that since I reside in NY, the new Paid Family Leave law gives me some partial pay for 8 of those weeks.  Got a nice hefty check in the mail today for staying home with my kids.  Wouldn't have been possible without finding this community a few years back, as I don't know that I would have been willing to leave my salary behind for 3 months, so thank you all very much.

That's awesome :)!

If you have sick/vacation time you can use that I believe. I have 2+ weeks of sick time I'm going to use for my 2nd shortly.

Congrats on your twins!

I had my second baby in January and took a little over 3 months off.  It was great :)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
