I took a gamble and bought my roommate a Yoda Christmas Tree Topper (complete with LED lightsaber) for Christmas. She's a Star Wars fan, is really into xmas decorations, and needed a tree topper. I purchased him for $30, but now he's listed on Amazon for ~$50.
This seemingly awesome gift failed miserably. She kindly proclaimed that, "It looks like Yoda is pooping on our tree." I'll admit... he does look more constipated and creepy in person than in the Amazon.com description.
Thus, instead of returning Yoda back to Amazon.com, I decided to sell him on Craigslist to save on shipping and possibly gain a profit. I already have offers to buy him for double the price I purchased him at. Win-win.
Now I just need to figure out a better gift for my roommate...

See if you can find a massively marked down lego Starwars advent calender, open that sucker up, tie some string around the minies and you have a set of 25 cute little themed ornaments for the tree that can be used year after year?

My boyfriend is really into these Star Wars Lego ornament things. He bought like six of them a couple years ago and has been taking a new one out of the box every year. This was the third year. I have to admit, it was kinda fun/relaxing taking a minute to sit and put them all together... I find following Lego directions really soothing for some reason :)
This is probably too disposable for an actual gift, but I think you should at least incorporate one into the packaging:
